Fitness game-changers: A look back at Tony Horton’s P90X
Throughout the COVID-19 pandemic, personal trainer Ayden Hector has had a lot of time to check out many of the fitness training videos that companies have put together for people who choose to work out at home.
The truth of the matter is that fitness training videos have been around for decades. From Jane Fonda’s exercise to Tae Bo, these products have been incredibly popular, especially for homebodies. However, in the 2000s, the landscape changed when a company by the name Beachbody.com released the Power 90, or P90 series created by Tony Horton. It was on DVD, and it was a moderate hit.
However, when the follow-up to P90, P90X (Power 90 Extreme), came out, it created a movement that spawned countless other programs.
Ayden Hector managed to borrow the P90X DVDs of his friend, and he was quite impressed with what he saw. While some of the features of the entire 90-day program are flawed, there are a lot more pros than cons.
For starters, P90X is intense and pushes a person to their limits. Workouts require very little equipment and are extremely modifiable. Tony Horton himself is quite an entertaining figure, who may or may not go overboard at times, but he certainly knows how to motivate people to work out.
